Writers of the "first draft of history"

IS is how Pope Francis calls journalists, in his meeting with the Italian National Council of the Order of Journalists on September 22. Of course, the Pope just unearthed a term that has been in use among journalists as far back as the early 1900's, but popularized in the early 60s by Washington Post publisher Phil Graham notably in his speech to oversees correspondents of Newsweek in London.
