MANILA, May 7, 2015 [LifeNews] — Tim Tebow is a popular football quarterback who became a pro-life star when he shared how his mother Pam rejected abortion after doctors told her that killing her baby was the only way to save her life. At the time, Pam and her husband were on a mission trip in the Philippines when Pam suddenly became ill will dysentery.
Tim says his mother’s doctors described him as a “fetal tumor” and “mass of cells” that had to be removed.
However, Tim’s mom courageously refused abortion and both Pam and Tim miraculously survived. In 2010, Tim and Pam partnered with Focus on the Family by sharing their story in a Superbowl commercial. The commercial was seen by millions of Americans and received high praise from pro-life groups.
Now, Tebow, who has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, has opened a hospital in a large Filipino city.
The Tebow CURE Hospital grand opening was held this past week at the facility in Davao City. Built and operated by CURE International, the hospital specializes in treating children with orthopedic conditions. Many donors have contributed to the project, including the Sacred Harvest Foundation and the Tim Tebow Foundation.
The grand opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the hospital, followed by an open house. In attendance were Rodrigo Duterte, Mayor of Davao City, and Dale Brantner, President & CEO of CURE International, along with representatives of the Tim Tebow Foundation, the Tebow family, the Sacred Harvest Foundation, and others.
“We’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time,” said Brantner. “After many years of prayer and much hard work, I am thrilled to be able to say the Tebow CURE Hospital is officially open! In this place, we will share the love of Jesus and bring physical healing to children and families who desperately need it.”
The hospital, which began treating patients late last year, specializes in pediatric orthopedics, providing charitable treatment to children with conditions like knock knees, bowed legs, and neglected clubfoot. The Tebow CURE Hospital also provides competitively priced orthopedic consultations and surgery for adults in need of total joint replacements or arthroscopic surgery, as well as treatment for spine conditions and sports injuries.
“We’re excited to be open for business in Davao City, and we’re grateful for the strong support from the community, our donors, and other partners to make this project a reality,” said Leron Lehman, Executive Director of the hospital. “We are already providing life-changing surgeries to children with physical disabilities and are excited about the opportunity we have to make a difference.”[Full Story]
