Palo launches vocations campaign

TACLOBAN CITY, Sept.2, 2010—The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Palo is promoting religious vocations with a campaign that includes going to various schools.

The archdiocese launched the campaign yesterday as church officials kicked off its month-long observance of the Vocation Month.

Laoag launches Matrimonal Tribunal

LAOAG City, Sept. 1, 2010— The Diocese of Laoag has launched a Matrimonial Tribunal, the first in the Ilocos Region.

Rev. Fr. Noel Ian G. Rabago, who just came back to the diocese with a Licentiate in Canon Law from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome has been appointed judicial vicar by Bishop Sergio Utleg.

Muslim leaders endorse CDO archbishop to peace negotiating team

CAGAYAN DE ORO City, Sept. 1, 2010—Muslim leaders in Northern Mindanao and Caraga Regions have endorsed the archbishop of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro to sit in the government panel negotiating peace with the Muslim separatist group in Mindanao.

Grenade attack on church work of extortionists

CAGAYAN DE ORO City, August 31, 2010—The grenade attack on the Catholic church in Kalilangan, Bukidnon that wounded two parishioners was perpetrated by friends of a Maranao Muslim extortionist who were trying to avenge his death at the hands of Christian policemen.

Bukidnon parish priest denies police theory on church attack

CAGAYAN DE ORO City, August 31, 2010—The pastor of the San Vicente Ferrer parish, two of whose parishioners were wounded in Sunday morning’s grenade blast, yesterday denied the theory of the police that the attack was perpetrated by irate Maranao Muslims out to avenge the death of a Maranao boy at the hands of a Christian driver recently.

Naga priest elected prexy of Catholic Missiologists

NAGA City, August 30, 2010—A priest from the Archdiocese of Caceres has been elected president of the International Association of Catholic Missiologists (IACM) during the organization’s recent confab in Tagaytay City.

Fr. Andrew Recepcion, the Mission Director of the Archdiocese, was one of the 80 participants coming from various parts of the world engaged in Catholic mission activities.
