Youth group warns solons against ‘resurrecting’ Cha-Cha

QUEZON CITY, April 14, 2009—A newly-formed party-list group, Kabataang Pinoy warned Palace allies against resurrecting the already dead Charter Change (Cha-cha).

Alvin Peters, Kabataang Pinoy’s spokesperson told CBCP News, the motive for Cha-Cha is still the same: One, to let the foreign capitalists exploit our resources and monopolize key industries; and two, to extend Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s term, thus immunizing her from cases should be filed against her because of their alleged plunder of public funds.

“This year’s Easter Sunday celebration conveys a new message to the youth and the people. Cha-cha should remain dead, and the only way it would stay that way is if Speaker Nograles and other disciples of charter change make the ultimate sacrifice and withdraw their resolutions in the House,” said Peters.

Peters assailed presidential son Pampanga Rep. Mikey Arroyo for being Malacanang’s ‘spokesperson, apologist and champion for cha-cha’ in the House.

“He should just shush and keep his thoughts to himself, he is not a good example to the youth,” says Peters.

Furthermore, Kabataang Pinoy will lobby and dialogue with congressmen and lawmakers within the week to convince them that “charter change is not the change the youth wants and needs but rather, to create a more nationalistic laws and changes in the policies in the economy and polity that will serve the Filipino people better.
