MANILA, September 21, 2008--The Department of Bioethics Faculty of the College of Medicine and Surgery of the Catholic Pontifical University of the Santo Tomas (UST) in cooperation of the Catholic Physicians Guild of the Philippines will hold a symposium on “The Family Seedbed of Love and Communication” on September 27.
“The symposium would discus relevant issues on family and bioethics by resource persons. We believe this is part of our mission to impart to our physicians, other personnel and the other lay people, aware of the many issues and threats against family and life. The discussion promises many interesting issues on family,’ said Conrado P. Banzon, MD, course director.
It will be held in St. Martin de Porres (Medicine) Building from 8.00 AM - 5.00 PM.
Some of the topics are: “Making marriage work for you,” “What children need from their parents,” “Subtle attacks against the family,” “When your son/friend tells you he is gay,” and “Growing up with dad.”
The resources persons include Dr Edna Garayblas-Monzon, chair of Department of Bioethics Faculty of the College of Medicine and Surgery of UST; Dr William and Dr Salve Olalia of UST; Edgardo Sorreta of Human Life International Asia, Pro Life Philippines and member of the Family Life Ministry of Cubao diocese; Roland de los Reyes II of Courage Philippines, and Edwin Lopez, regional manager for Asia and the Pacific of Catholic Eternal Word Television Network.
