DAVAO CITY, September 20, 2008—The director of the Family and Life Apostolate (FLA) of Davao has urged all Christian Catholics to speak up on reproductive issues especially if it stands out against the teachings of the Church.
Fr. Henry Campeon, FLA director said breaking the silence on the issues of reproductive health is always an obligation for every Catholic.
“If a person opts to be silent, then it would be better for that person not to be born in this world,” Campeon said as quoted in Davao Catholic Herald.
Campeon is also dismayed on the misuse and abuse of freedom today which result to practices that hold opposing views to God’s will like using artificial methods of family planning and contraceptives.
He explained that the concept of freedom is not freedom to do anything but the freedom to do good. “Freedom to do what is right in the spirit of charity. In short, freedom to do His will.”
Campeon is also disappointed at those who claim to be Catholics yet they do not practice their faith.
He also reminded Catholics that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save their lives and they should do the same to protect and defend the sanctity of life.
“If for God life is precious, defended, protected and saved, why there are many of us who want to destroy it? Why there are many of us who claimed to be God’s children yet, desire and plan to kill and destroy life?” he asked. (Mark S. Ventura)
