Manila Archdiocese urges youth to read, meditate God’s Word

MANILA, September 20, 2008—Read and meditate on the Bible, Manila Archdiocese urged young people.

“Within the pages of the Bible, we find the story of God’s interactions with mankind—His thoughts, plans, intentions, and wisdom for those He created in His very own image. No wonder it is the perfect guide for our daily living. In our pursuit of a simpler life, the Bible should be the first place we go to gain perspective and inspiration,” Fr. Ramon Jade L. Licuanan, director of Archdiocesan Youth Organizations and Movements, said in a press statement.

In an increasing number of ways, young people of today are displaying a great need to listen to God and speak with God, he said in a circular addressed to parish priests, youth coordinators, school heads, campus ministers and heads of youth organizations and young people.

“In the recently concluded World Youth Day in Sydney Australia, the church witnessed how the young people in the world are eagerly seeking for the Word of God as the source of life and as a means of encountering the Lord in a personal manner,” Licuanan said.

Through “Ka-talk series” for youth, Archdiocesan Youth Organizations and Movements would like to give importance to the Word of God. God calls young people enabling them to become witnesses to His Word, the priest stressed.

“Let us contemplate on this mystery of the Word, God’s greatest gift, to let our young people render thanks for it, to meditate upon it and to proclaim it to all members of the Church and all people of good will,” he said.

Archdiocesan Youth Organizations and Movements invite young people to KA-TALK #36 SA ‘YONG SALITA … on September 20, 2008 (Saturday) from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., at the Cardinal Sin Auditorium, Paco Catholic School. (Santosh Digal)
