Evangelical bishop backs revival of death penalty

MANILA, August 31, 2010— A bishop of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) renewed his support on Senator Miguel Zubiri’s proposal for reimposition of the death penalty in the country.

“We are in favor of death penalty as it is biblical,” PCEC national director Bishop Efraim Tendero said in a statement in the wake of the bloody Manila hostage last Monday.

Bishop calls for justice in Manila hijacking

MANILA, August 31, 2010— A Catholic bishop is calling on the government to ensure those responsible in the bloody turnout of last week’s hostage incident are brought to justice.
