MANILA, Dec. 11, 2009—Migrante Middle-East sounded the alarm over the news that there is a Filipino couple accused of murder, scheduled to be beheaded any time soon.

John Leonard Monterona, Migrante Middle-East coordinator in a statement said, OFW couple Carlo Reno at Marlyn Reno were accused of murdering their hired Filipina and the Saudi authorities have sentenced them to death.

“We have been trying to ask the RP post in Saudi Arabia to validate the information of the supposed scheduled beheading of the OFW couple, but they too could not confirm this as it said today is Friday, non-working holiday. It is a concern for us the Filipino Community since the news of the scheduled beheading is fast circulating among the Filipino Community,” Monterona said in a statement.

The migrants group then urges the Philippine government, especially the Department of Foreign Affairs, to exert all efforts to validate the report and use all the diplomatic means to save the couple. (Noel Sales Barcelona)
