Ozamiz appoints new vicar general

OZAMIZ CITY, December 11, 2009—The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Ozamiz, Most Rev. Jesus A. Dosado, CM, has appointed Fr. Maximino Naron, canon lawyer and chancellor, as his new vicar general for this local church.

Msgr. Naron, 50, succeeds the late Msgr. Emie Bienes, 63, who recently died due to liver cancer. Msgr. Bienes had been the vicar general of the Archdiocese of Ozamiz since 1992.

Naron was born in December 19, 1959, in Pangabuan, Tangub City.

He was ordained priest in April 19, 1985. At the University of Santo Tomas in Manila he earned Licentiate in Philosophy, Bachelors in Sacred Theology and a Doctorate in Canon Law.

After his priestly ordination he was appointed as assistant parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Parish and as assistant parish priest of the late Msgr. Emie Bienes in Oroquieta City.

He was named chancellor in 2007, and then appointed as the new vicar general after the clergy meeting on December 9.

Msgr. Bienes’s remains lies in state at his residence, in Tudela after his body was brought to his hometown from Saint Michael Archangel Parish, Tangub City, on Wednesday afternoon.

The concelebrated funeral mass will be held on December 14 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Saint Isidro Labrador Catholic Cemetery, Tudela, Misamis Occidental. (Wendell Talibong)
