MANILA, October 25, 2009—In view of developing a culture of disaster preparedness among Filipinos, an environmental lecture-forum organized by the Communication Foundation for Asia (CFA) has been set on October 30, 2009.
Entitled as the “Are We Ready for the Unexpected? Building a Culture of Disaster Preparedness,” the forum will be held at the CFA Lagerway hall in Sta Mesa, Manila.
Organizers said this discussion will talk about the practical procedures that will prepare communities, socio-civic organizations, students and church-based organizations towards “disaster risk education.”
The forum also aims at developing affiliation among stakeholders to increase their participation and efforts in disaster risk education, management and alleviation.
Among the resource speakers of the said forum are representatives from the different socio-civic and environmental organizations.
One of the expected speakers is Lyra Magalang, the Acting Disaster Risk Reduction Program Manager of the Oxfam GB-Manila.
Oxfam is an international confederation of 14 organizations working together with partners and allies around the world to bring about lasting change. (Kate Laceda)
